Find The Right Car Carrier For Your Move

I needed a car company to ship my car from Los Angeles to Kirkland WA and initially was bombarded by emails and phone calls from various brokers. I was unfamiliar with the process of shipping a car, and found all the different quotes a bit overwhelming. After speaking with one of the brokers, I realized that there was a lot of guess-work in what the final cost of the shipping would be as they can only give you an estimate and will charge you more later once a carrier has picked up your car. I heard about american auto shipping from a friend of mine who had used this service in the past. Immediately, I was impressed that they gave me an exact quote and I was able to pay for it at that time without any additional hidden fees (and the rate was right on par if not cheaper than many of the other quotes). Overall, the experience was really good. I was able to speak with someone directly every time I had a question and it always felt professional.

The main issue I had was with the pick up experience . It took about 5 days after my desired pick up date (which they warned me might happen as they have a 90% success rate) , but my main issue was that they had told me that they would give me 12-24 hours notice before the carrier would be picking up the car. They called me the day of pick up and said that the car had been dispatched and would be picked up likely the next day, however about 15 minutes after that call the carrier called me and said he was an hour away from my house. This was extremely frustrating because I had to scramble to make sure I was there by pick up time. I hope that with this feedback they can take steps to improve this process, but overall I would recommend the company and would use them again.

After this review posted, I received an automated email that American had cancelled my shipment and refunded my payment at 9pm the night before we left for our interstate move. The fact that they didn’t call or reach out whatsoever and instead waited until after business hours to do so was petty and unprofessional, but we were relieved to be done with them.

Fortunately for us, I booked with Montway the same night, was assigned a carrier a few days later, and our car has already been picked up by the driver and will arrive in just a few days to our new home.

Avoid this unprofessional company at all costs.
