Arranged to have a car shipped one month prior to the date needed. They confirmed shipment of the vehicle over the phone (several times), so a plane ticket was purchased in order to meet them when the car was dropped off because we were told we would need to sign for it. When we called to verify the shipment on the day of we were told that the driver had cancelled and that our car would NOT be shipped. We did not receive a phone call with this update. We also have already made a $200 deposit. When calling to get this issue resolved our contact was not available in the office, and the individual who answered the phone explained that she did not know anything about it so she could not really help us. When someone did call back they called to say that the deposit was not refundable… even though they cancelled without notice and we had a confirmation number.

I would NOT recommend this business. Although there are many 5 star reviews, they do not seem to be consistent in following through for every customer. Maybe IF they actually ship your car they do a good job, I would not know because they backed out on us. NOT DEPENDABLE

I applied for an estimate online and received probably 12 phone calls while I was at work (which I could not pick up), the next morning they called again and when I picked up I said that I wasn’t interested at the moment that it was to soon and the man who called made a rude comment and hung up on me.

If that’s how their staff is I won’t be going to them when it is time for me to hire someone.

I made a $200 deposit with American Car Transporters, Inc. at the end of October for my bike to be shipped one way from New Orleans to the Twin Cities area. They were very accommodating on the phone and assured me that it would be no problem. They suggested that I might have to meet the driver somewhere, but that the motorcycle could probably be picked up at my hotel and said they’d follow up in the beginning of the pick up week to work out the details.

They didn’t call. We had to follow up with them. They said they’d follow up. Time passed and we heard nothing. Finally followed up with them again by email and they said they’d tried us on every number they had and couldn’t get anyone. My cell phone was one of the numbers they had and I never missed a call. They claimed not to leave a voicemail because the other number was a business line.

Got up at 6:00 am the day of pickup so I could meet their driver or help get loaded. Didn’t hear from them and followed up mid morning. They emailed and said a driver wasn’t available, but if I left the bike at the hotel they’d have it picked up that afternoon (Friday). The weekend passed and we never heard from them. Checked with the hotel and the bike was still there. Had to follow up with them repeatedly the following week only to get the runaround.

A second weekend came and went while I was being charged $34 per day for valet parking at the hotel and they seemed no closer to solving the problem. They claimed to be having trouble finding a driver who would pick up my motorcycle at the hotel they told me it was okay to leave it at. They suggested they could refund my deposit, but asked if they could still try to help.

I gave them another day (now 11 total since my bike was left at the hotel), and figured it out on my own. When I called them to have them refund my money, I once again spoke to the owner (Mitch) and when I told him how disappointed I was in his service, he said, “Well, you’re about 1 in 10,000”. I said I’d be filing a complaint with the Florida Secretary of State and he asked if that was a threat. He never offered to defray my costs and his company was totally inept for the better part of two weeks. As a layperson, I solved the problem in a day.

Except for the day they took my money, I had poor customer service throughout. They came off to me as totally inept.
