So I hire Auto Movers USA to transport my truck from Florida to Ohio. They subcontracted it out to Arce’s A Plus Services Corporation. Sometime during transport my truck rear window was broke. At no time was I notified that the window was broke. The truck was delivered and no one notified anyone the window was broke. They had covered up the window to make it look like they had covered for shipping. The driver who is the owner of Arce’s falsified his paperwork to show it was damage before shipping. He never marked the damage on the paperwork before he took possession of the truck and never gave me copies of any paperwork when he took possession of the truck. When he delivered the truck he never explained any damage to the truck to the person receiving the truck. He left $250 in the cab of the truck wrapped in the transport paperwork. He called a windshield company to fix the window. He calls me an hour later to tell me that someone is going to come out to fix the window and tells me that he does not know how the window was broken. When the window replacement people come out and take off the plastic is is ver obvious that the driver hit the cab of my truck with something which cause damage to the cab of the truck and busted out the glass. Both companies refuse to pay for the damages to my truck and I have had to file a claim with my insurance company. Stay away from both companies.
They are just another broker that uses standard practices. They first quote a low price and than try finding a carrier to meet their quoted price. They build their business on lies they build on top of one another.
I worked with Frank. He mentioned that they run this route Monday, Wednesday and Friday and there are two spots on their carrier for Wednesday. All great! I gave my credit card and signed the contract on Friday.
There was no carrier provided on Friday and I thought that they would provide that on Monday. Had a call Monday morning with Frank, and he said their dispatcher is not in the office yet and once he comes to the office he’ll provide the details (lie 1)
Later tried calling the general number and talked with Jesus. He mentioned everything is fine and the carrier is provided soon (lie 2)
Later in the afternoon tried texting Frank and called using cellphone few times. No response from any of the numbers. I felt they try to avoid my number and tried calling using a different phone,… Alas, phone was picked up right away. Frank this time says there are two carries now and he does not know which one will be in my area. They may think their customers are stupid enough to believe their lies. If he had two spots in the carrier previous Friday, then he should have known which carrier it is.
I asked him to provide the details of the two carries. No response. At this point I realized these guys are running me around. Tried calling them and cancelling the order and not so surprisingly they did not want to cancel the order. Frank said his boss Jesus will call me and for two more hours there was no call. Finally, I emailed them to cancel the order.
This company is built on lies. This is a common practice to claim they have their own carriers, quote lowest and then find a carrier. Seems like this usually works but sometimes not. Most of the reputed brokers actually reveal they are brokers and do not get credit card information unless they have a confirmed carrier.
Do not increase your stress level when you are moving. Pay little more and find a reputed broker.
I scheduled a pickup time signed contract and paid. They called individual of car I was buying confirmed pick up date and said would call 2 hours before driver came. All of this was a lie they never showed up neither did the call individual I am buying car from now he is mad he wasted an entire day waiting for them. They will promise you the moon and not deliver. I have called and left messages for them and they have not returned my calls.
UPDATED 2 WEEKS AFTER THIS POST Below
First thing first. I did not “refuse” to change the rating after the vehicle was finally delivered but being that they stated I did, maybe that should be the case. Totally inaccurate statement on their part again. At my expense, as the customer, I gained valuable information in this endeavor. Hopefully, readers can benefit from my expense. Here are the facts:
1. You cannot rely on any promised dates by Auto Movers USA. It will totally depend on the driver and the company that they award the contract to.
2. After the driver does not show up, the transport company will inform you that this is, of course, how this industry of vehicle transportation works. You will not be informed of this upfront.
3. In my case, Auto Movers USA set a date to pick the car up on a Sunday. Auto Movers USA called the person who I was buying the car from and confirmed the date and time with him for Sunday. They did not call the person I was buying the car from to tell him that they could not make their appointment so he wasted his day waiting for them to show up. In their defense, Auto Movers USA left a voicemail on my phone stating that they could now not make it. I rightly thought that when they booked the date and time for pickup and confirmed with the person I was buying from that it was done.
4. It’s my impression that Auto Movers USA is simply a broker who gets your business and then starts calling companies and drivers to fulfill a contract. This may be why promises are broken and the changes of pick up dates/times occur at the customer’s expense.
4. When I got the drivers name and number and called him, even though we were well into a week of starting this process, he told me that he was never scheduled for the original Sunday pick up and that he wasn’t notified till Monday to pick up the car.
5. Auto Movers USA then said that Tuesday was the pickup day and I said, “Is that 100% or 90%?” They said, “100% Tuesday for sure.” Well, the car wasn’t picked up till Wednesday morning – not a big surprise. When I reminded them that they said, “100% Tuesday,” they said, “Well, in the auto transport business this is normal.”
6. My car was picked up Wednesday morning in Michigan and delivered 6 days later in Tampa, FL on Tuesday afternoon. The entire process took around 2 weeks from start to finish. I had no idea that it would take this long nor did they ever tell me this could and probably would happen.
7. Now that this process is behind me, I would not personally go through a broker. I would identify a local owner/operator of transport trucks in the area of pickup and work directly with the owner and driver. If this is not possible, then you can go through companies like Auto Movers USA, but learn from my experience and choose wisely.
8. If they would have been honest, from the start, I would not be wasting my time answering and explaining myself as the customer. Also, had they been honest, they would not be getting a poor rating – a poor rating for having poor business practices.
