Third time shipping a car with Hawaii Car Transport. This time it was from Florida my nearly new Santa Cruz to Kahului, Maui. After picking up the car exactly as planned from my son house the truck had a breakdown in Texas which happens and and no issue as we were in good time for the ship. Communication through this first hurdle from Lana Ramis was outstanding.
Well…. everything on track and I get a call from Lana saying port will refuse the car as a recall by Hyundai for a fire hazard had just been issued and NHTSA have to clear the recall before port will accept. (makes sense for sure) Lana arranged for truck to drop Santa Cruz off at Hyundai dealer in Long Beach and they were super awesome with a quick turnaround. Next challenge was to get dealer to enter recall completed on Hyundai portal and then Hyundai to enter recall complete on NHTSA website. Well Hyundai were a bit slow and in the end we missed the ship by a few hours…. no problem for Hawaii Car Transport and Lana Ramis, shift gears and rebook on later ship, yes had an additional small charge for trucking to port which was fully understandable and reasonable.
Car arrived on the next ship in Kahului, Maui and after all this car in perfect condition and only a quick drive through car wash, car is good as new.
My only small suggestion is to improve the online tracking, however Lana provided excellent feedback whenever I needed it by email or by phone.
What was super cool to me was the “can do” attitude by Lana Ramis and Hawaii Car Transport, we worked as a team to get over every hurdle and communication from Lana was simply outstanding. All I can say is THANK YOU to Lana Ramis and Hawaii Car Transport !!!
If I could give 0 stars I would!! DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!! I booked with them never imagining what a shit show it would be. I shipped my first vehicle on 6/9/2023 for my move to Cali in hopes it would be here ready for pick up by 6/28/2023 as they quoted me. Well here I am, In Cali renting a car for a week and now having to rent another car for a whole other week or so because my car isn’t here yet!They can’t provide me with any dates on when my car will get to the Oakland port for pick up. Also……dropped my second vehicle off on 6/29/2023 which was supposed to be ready for pick up as quoted for 7/11/2023 only for Hawaii Car Transport & Pasha to push the date back even further. No one calls you to tell you your vehicle didn’t make the original voyage nor do they give a shit about you having to scramble and pay for a rental for almost a month. They don’t give refunds or accommodate you with a rental. Turn around and go with Matson!! Not to mention, HCT’s customer service is on the East coast so they aren’t even in Hawaii nor will they be available to answer your calls past a certain time of you reside in Hawaii. I really thought this would be an easy process but I was sooooooo wrong!
