Worst vehicle shipping experience of my life. I paid $1700 to have my BMW M3 shipped from Florida to Tennessee with a guaranteed pickup and delivery dates, on a closed carrier. I was optimistic based on their positive reviews and efficient quote and scheduling process.

I received a text on the day of pickup that a truck would be at my house by 5pm to pick up the vehicle. Instead, an open carrier arrived at 6:30, but the driver apologized for the delay due to traffic and promised that the vehicle would be transferred to a closed carrier for the trip to Tennessee. That’s fine, things happen and I knew Montway said an open carrier was possible for pickup.

The trouble started three days later when I got a call my vehicle would be delivered in Nashville that evening. However, I confirmed with Montway multiple times that I would not be in town until four days later and paid extra for delayed delivery. The dispatcher on the phone could care less and said the truck would need to drop off the vehicle by the next morning at the latest. Panicking, I was prepared to drive overnight or fly on a moment’s notice to pick up my car, as the dispatcher provided no alternative.

I then called Montway HQ for assistance and after waiting on hold for nearly 30 minutes was told they would be able to arrange to store the vehicle in an open lot in Nashville. This experience ruined my evening and the lack of concern or communication from Montway was absolutely pathetic.

The next morning, I called to confirm the vehicle was at the storage lot and guess what – it wasn’t! The rep said they would drop it off now – I have no idea why they told me differently the night before. I had to hand hold Montway every step of the way.

The cherry on top came when I arrived at the storage lot (30 minutes away from my new home, so much for door to door service) outside of Nashville to see my car parked in a muddy storage lot, outside, being rained on. The complete opposite condition I was expecting it in when I paid $1700 for closed carrier delivery. On top of the lot, the Montway driver forgot my key in his truck after he dropped off the car! I spent another three hours waiting at the lot for the driver to finally return with my key. What an experience.

While the car was delivered in good condition, I noticed that 3 miles had been added to the odometer. While this may seem negligible to some, there is absolutely 0 reason why more than 1 mile should be added to a car when it is shipped ‘door to door’. This only means that someone took my car on a little joyride somewhere along the journey, which is a complete violation of my personal properly.

I regret ever using this joke of a company and would give them negative stars if I could. When I brought up my concerns to the Montway team, they gave me a $400 refund after a week of back and forth, which is pathetic given that I still paid far beyond what an open carrier transport would be without a guaranteed delivery date. I’m glad my car arrived in one piece, but I would not recommend anyone use this service if you care about your car, your sanity, and your hard earned money.

I got lucky with the company who was assigned to pick up my car for transport across the country. It was YMA Express based in Florida. The driver was super cool and the woman who was setting up everything was very communicative and responsive whenever i texted her with questions. My experience with them was 10/10. The driver was on time with all the ETAs I was provided, to the dot. They said he’d be here by 11am, and was actually here at 11 on the dot. Pretty impressed. Car was taken Tuesday and came to me on Saturday morning as promised

However this review is of course for Montway. I didn’t have much communication with them, especially for the pick up date. I was supposed to be notified 24 hrs prior to pick up that a carrier was assigned, however I wasn’t notified till day of, 2 hours prior so I had to rush and pack my car to be taken. Thankfully YMA understood my situation and gave me an extra hour to prepare.

I would’ve given 5 stars if Montway did their part on that, which put me in an inconvenient spot.

TIP FOR EVERYONE: put an Apple AirTag in your trunk so you can track its location along the way. Helped me with peace of mind 100%

We just just used Montway Auto to ship a car feon NJ to CA and had a mixed experience.

Pros- They delivered our car in perfect condition and the price did not change from their original quote.

Cons- They missed their original 5 day pickup window, missed their 5 day drop off window. then missed two revised dates. in the end they were about 6 days behind their original latest drop date and it took 3 weeks from pickup in NJ to CA. They advertise door to door service but on both ends called to say they had to pickup and drop on major nearby roads with alot of traffic because the streets were too narrow even though the streets are very wide so i cant imagine they ever pickup at a house. The drivers were friendly but didnt speak english which made it tough to communicate. We received email communications along the way but overall the status of our car was a a bit of a mystery right up until the day before drop off.
