I had a car shipped from Florida to California. I did a lot of research and Onassiss had the better reviews and was on BBB. My car arrived in the time I was promised. There wasn’t any hidden charges. I would have given them 4 stars, but the communication was so bad. All in all I received my car in good shape and in the time promised.

I moved across country (South to West Coast) and decided to ship my car. Ann at Onassis was prompt and found a driver very quickly for a reasonable price. Ann said she would follow up with me after the pick up but she never did, not even when I called and left a message.

The driver actually came a day earlier than planned but fortunately I was able to get my car ready in time. He wanted it to drop it off 2 days earlier than planned but once we agreed on a time he called back and changed it to the next day.

He delivered the car that day (still one day earlier than anticipated) and the windshield was smashed. Since this was over a holiday weekend I couldn’t get a hold of anyone for a few days. I also got transferred to several different people to find the local repairman who finally came out and fixed it free of charge the day after I called.

Overall car shipping is a nightmare, definitely only recommend for people with a flexible schedule.

Car moving is a scary experience in America. Horrible things can happen if you fall into the hands of bad movers. Starting with quotes, credit card authorization, payment, drop off, and picking up; tons of things could go wrong. The only way to escape this is to payout extra money and deal with large companies. Even then there is no guarantee that everything will be smooth.

My previous car move was a horrible experience due to the angry driver. I only call him to enquire when I could expect delivery of car. It was the first time someone screamed at me in America. Shocked and Scared, I hanged up the call immediately. And decided not to call back. I spoke minimum during the delivery. Infact he shouted again at me when I told him to use his GPS to get to my place. I was new in the area and he was insisting on directions to which I replied above. I did tip him well, which I always repented.

The problem with getting quote is the spam calls. As soon you post your requirement on Yelp, you are bombarded with tons calls and messages. Also the tone and language used by customer support executives is bit harsh. They are impatient. Reiterating any piece of information could easily raise temper flares.

Infact one of the customer services agent from a transportation company started spamming with message’s. He was upset I did not take his offer and sided with someone. Sign of unprofessional attitudes of the companies.

After I got the quote from 4-5 companies, I proceeded to verify the reviews. I was shocked to see so many of them had such low ratings. Yes, the BBB website showed 5 star rating me for most companies, but Google and Yelp reviews were full of horror stories. People complaining about over price, and damages to vehicles. One guy wrote these movers covered the damage under the car with spray paint. And most covered no insurance though the customer service agents said the otherwise.

Finally I spoke to a lady called Ann from Onassis transportation services and settled with them. She spoke softly like she was humming. Such a relief from the harsh sounding executives from other companies.

After she provided all the information, I looked up their reviews, and found really good ratings in Google. Though I found nothing on Yelp about them. Atleast some good reviews seemed like a relief, and I immediately booked my order with them. Called them and provided my credit card authorization. Later they sent me a review document to sign. Which I did sign and sent them back. It was an easy breezy process with them so far.

Since I was in no hurry to transport my car immediately, I had no problem with the initial delay for my car pickup. They dispatched a driver to pick up almost 4 days after I signed the documents. The driver picked my car on Tuesday only to be transported on the next Saturday. I was really nervous leaving it to some strange for so long. However, after the car arrived I checked all around, and found everything was good.

Ann was really courteous in answering my calls and queries over email anytime. Andrei, our driver was very courteous as well. He told me he used to be a .NET programmer long time back, and had a very stimulating conversation after he delivered the vehicle.

All in all, you should be very patient with car transportation if you want better results. Planning ahead is important as delays are pretty common. Ann does a good job of setting our expectations really well. She explains why the price she agrees initially could go up later. She explains why there could be delays in pick ups clearly. She explains why you should limit the amount of the items and weight you put in your car. All this information really insightful. With a little empathy, we could give these hard working brokers, and drivers some relief from numerous job pressures.

Infact the company that transported my car provided delivery status website, where you can check the status of the car move. They did a 21 points checks, and documentation was solid good and detailed. They did the exact same 21 points checks after delivery.
