E SHAY.
I reached out to multiple companies to get a quote on shipping an inoperable vehicle to me from Texas that I just purchased. I found multiple companies, but Rite Way gave me the best deal, so I decided to go with them. I gave them plenty of time to get it scheduled with “one of their drivers”, which was about 2 weeks before it needed to be picked up. Just so you know, they are just a broker for drivers, and they don’t actually have their own drivers. Anyways, they set up the pick-up for me and all seemed fine. You have a 72 hour window for pick-ups typically with this type of shipment. So 2 weeks go by and I haven’t heard anything at all. The 1st day in the 72-hour window went by, and I heard nothing. The 2nd day went by, and still I heard nothing. Mid-way through the 3rd day, the seller contacted me and wanted to know what’s going on with the pick-up, so I call Rite Way to find out. Apparently “there’s a lot of vehicles heading to the north east so the driver wants an additional $200 to do the pick-up.” I believe this is just a tactic to get more money out of me, but at this point, I just need the vehicle picked up. So I agreed to it, and shortly after the auto-hauler contacted my seller to schedule the pick-up. I figured everything is fine at this point.
Now it would be picked up 2 days later since the driver wouldn’t be in the area until then. The driver was not informed that it was inoperable by Rite-Way, even though I told this to them many times and it’s even listed on the paperwork I had with them. My seller still confirmed with the actual driver that he would arrive in 2 days and he would help him load it up. So that day arrives, and the driver doesn’t show up. The seller tried reaching out to the driver numerous times, but he doesn’t answer. Finally, at 8:30pm, the driver gets back to my seller. The driver said to him “I thought I canceled that one” and said he would call him back. The driver then called back 15 minutes later and said to my seller that I “cancelled the shipment because it was inoperable.” I did not cancel the shipment, so I know he was lying. I reached out to Rite Way, and left a message.
Someone called me back the following morning. Someone different always calls me back for some reason. They said that the driver showed up and since I listed the vehicle as operable, he wasn’t going to take it. They said he needed $200 more to pick it up now and he’s still in the area. At that point I was fed up, and I said that I’m going to find someone else. The driver never showed up to the seller’s location, which they told me he did, so they lied about that. They are trying to get $400 more from me from what I was quoted, which is less than all of the other companies I originally reached out to. It would actually cost me less to fly to Texas, rent a truck and trailer, and drive it back myself for the total price they wanted!
I will never work with Rite Way again, and I hope no one else does. Their customer service is horrible and they try to swindle you out of your money, and lie to you as well! Steer clear of them at all costs!!!
I got a car shipped from north carolina to new jersey. Rich seemed like a nice guy but it wasn’t a great experience at all. The car was supposed to be picked up on a friday but didn’t until monday. Then was promised the car on wednesday so i took the day off from work. I recieved a call from the driver around noon and said he can’t make it until thursday. When i told him i took the day off he said sorry and hung up. I called rich and he said he new nothing about it. He called back and said sorry but it’s not coming. I hate writing a bad review on anyone and it was only a day late but when you take a day and a half off of work that cost me money i get upset.
