I used Bill's transport in 2020 To bring my to Maine from Florida and then again in the fall. This year was something totally different. I scheduled a pick up four weeks in advance. On the scheduled day, driver never called. We called Angie, at dispatch who said the driver was held up for a few hours but was on his way As we were the last pick up in Florida. Driver never showed or called. We called Bill's the following day. Angie told us that the driver had a flat tire and would contact us. The driver never contacted us. We called/texted Angie (she gave us her personal cell) and she (nor anyone else) botherEd to respond. Day 3, still no response or call. Then, this evening, I received a random text from an unknown transport carrier that they are going to pick up our car sometime over the weekend. Say what? I have no idea who these people are and not happening. We wasted three days hanging around, waiting to to have our car picked up and although we are patient and understanding of mishaps, this reeks of BS and lies. All someone needed to do was to pick up the phone and communicate with us. I think that is a reasonable request. Bill's lost a good customer.
The absolute worse when it comes to transporting your car. They give you a date and then your car never shows up. After numerous phone calls went straight to voicemail and not getting a call back, we had a friend stop by their location. After telling us nobody answered the door and the building looked shuttered, we had no choice but to contact the police to find our car. This company will lie straight to your face just to get your money. Crooks!
We contracted with Bill's Auto Transport to pick up our car in Portland Me and deliver it to Estero FL in October. We have used them two previous times with issues about pickup times and delivery and lack of communication. Of course, Maine is very limited on available transport companies, so we stupidly used them again. Our car was picked up by Ed Storey, the driver, on Monday October 5th. He told us he would have it to FL late on Wednesday or early Thursday. It was not delivered until 9:00 pm on Thursday the 8th. Of course it was dark and we could not examine the car, but we asked if there were any issues and he stated "no". Early on Friday, we took the car out of the garage to wash it and check it over and there was substantial damage to the roof, trunk, and side of the car. We called Angie who did not answer the phone. We called Ed the Driver and he stated he may have hit a few tree limbs. On that Friday, we took the car immediately to an authorized Mercedes Collision Center for an estimate of damages. The damages to the car are in excess of $10,000. Since October 9th, we have been trying to deal with Angie and Toby at Bill's. We received a partial payment from their insurance carrier, Progressive, but not the $2,500 deductible that Bill's is supposed to pay. Angie also promised that Bill's would pay for a rental car for our use when our car is being repaired, but the car is now in the shop, and we have no rental car. Progressive states that it is up to Bill's to provide it, and of course, they have not.
Although we have spoken with Angie and Toby numerous times and have received many promises of the "check is in the mail", it is not. Last week, Angie told us that a family emergency was to blame. Later that week, she told us that a snowstorm in Maine was to blame. This week, she promised that the check had been sent Priority Mail and she would send me a tracking number the next day (Tuesday). It is now Friday and no check has arrived and she will not answer our phone calls or our emails. Calls to Toby have gone unanswered and unreturned.
Our next step will be notifying the Maine Attorney General and Better Business Bureau.
Unfortunately, we will be hiring an attorney from this point and it's just so unnecessary.
Based on our three experiences with Bill's Auto Transport, we would recommend you not use this company.
DO NOT USE BILLS RIP -OFF REPORT . We where regular customers with Bill not anymore. We Shipped daughter's 2019 car from Maine to FLORIDA the driver caused 1000 worth of damage taking of carrier.Bills said they would take care of it then passed it of to driver however we paid Bills . They would not resolve this after saying they would pay costs. We sent them all paperwork and called several times after finally they stopped responding. They do not take care of customers beware unethical business . We will be contacting attorney general now .
We used this company many years ago, and were very impressed with it. However, when we hired again them in August, our experience was very bad.
First of all, we arranged to leave our car In Hermon at the Dysart's, because we did not want to drive out of our way to Greene. Angie told us that we would get a call or email that someone had indeed picked it up, but we never got a confirmation. WE HAD NO PROOF AT ALL THAT WE LEFT THE CAR OR THAT SOMEONE PICKED IT UP, nothing in writing. I called her and expressed my concerns, and she said something such as "I have 600 customers, and that's the way we do things." (NOTHING IN WRITING, NO CALLS, NO EMAILS) Because we had many other problems at the time, we were not able to stop the process right then, and we just hoped that we would get our car back safely to Florida.
We telephoned several times, and finally were given the name and phone number of the driver, and yes, we got our car back more or less on time. However, when it was delivered, the front windshield was cracked. The driver did not know how it happened, and did not see it until the car was unloaded. He told us to call Angie, which we did, and she said to get it fixed and let her know how much it cost, and she would send us a check to be reimbursed. The cost was $294.17. More than a month has passed, and she still has not paid us. She has told us 3 times (3 days ago she said she would email us the tracking number... NO) that she sent it, but that "there are problems with the post office here...", and she will send it again. (Two checks have been "lost".)
I understand how hard it is to run a business, but when people lie over and over I give up trying. I don't have time to waste on tall tales. I don't know if I will ever get my money back, but I will next call the Maine Attorney General's office and the BBB, and see what happens. AT LEAST WE GOT OUR CAR BACK!
Small but large family owned business. Angie, Lisa, Toby and Bill himself are all fantastic easy going people. Always great service for my company and we ship 50+ cars a year through them. Occasional delays due to employee/drivers but when they are significantly lower priced you appreciate/understand it. Overall extremely happy, great prices and reasonable service. Thanks guys
Don't even think of using this company. They ship cars to Florida on Sunday and are closed on weekends leaving you no contact information. I waited all day for a call from the trucker and never got one. All the company mailboxes are full so you can't leave a message there either. You've been warned.
