Lepke Auto Transport
Customer Reviews
Car delivered safely but communication with driver was almost impossible. Waited 5 hours for pick-up and 5 hours for drop-off. Driver spoke essentially no English and gave me estimated pick-up drop-
I had an excellent experience working with Lepke Auto Transport to send a car from NY to California. The planning went super well, with the schedule set up to meet my needs and was a reasonable cost. The dispatcher and driver were nice, professional, careful, considerate. They kept in touch with us through the trip and accommodated our timing. The car arrived in perfect condition.
100% recommend! I purchased a car in LA that was guaranteed delivery to me in Northern CA. This was during heavy storms. 17 days after purchase and after being told at least 3x that the driver was "on his way from Texas", "caught in snow", caught on the one in Big Sur, etc., etc. etc. After complaining, the dealer allegedly found two other transport companies but - still no car. I called Lepke Auto on Monday morning at 9am. By 10am delivery was confirmed - the car would be picked up in LA at 4pm the SAME DAY and delivered to me the next day. Lepke kept me informed throughout and I had the number to the driver who texted when he was on the way. It was painless, professional and efficient. And, cost effective. Do not even hesitate to use them. It's a no brainer!
Initially scheduled a car to be transported about 3 months in advance (Chicago to Phoenix). Was then told they had to cancel it, and told me to reschedule about 3 weeks in advance because of fluctuations in gas prices. Original quote was $925. When I rescheduled, it ended up being $1,050. Car was picked up and delivered in a timely manner. The car arrived with scratch mark damage to the rear bumper as if it was from the license plate frame of another vehicle. Driver (from "No Limit") said he didn't know what happened. Price was a little steep and the car arrived with damage, so 3 stars instead of 5.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!
This company is LUCKY there is NO option for leaving NOTHING here (stars)!!!!
Tobias gave me a quote for $1,000 to ship my car from California to Michigan which was a good price. However, I would call and call and would receive no answer. I don't know how many times I called until I was finally able to get a hold of someone. Little did I know that that would be the LEAST of my worries. My car ended up having to be TOWED because my car was not drivable! The driver actually DROVE my brand new Mercedes-Benz CLA 2019 for 5.9 miles! How do I know this? Because I received a notification on my phone through the Mercedes-Benz app that the car was on, the windows were down, and it showed that the last trip driven was in Missouri!!! The driver kept denying he drove it until we told him about the app. Thank God, I had taken a snapshot of it. My friend was kind enough to receive our car for my husband and I and was the one that told us that it was not drivable, he said it sounded like the bottom of my car was scratching the road and it smelt like burnt rubber. I then called Tobias, needless to say I was asolutely beyond pissed, and he had the audacity to tell me he wasn't able to do anything about it!!! It took him FOREVER to get back with me about the insurance! Once I was finally able to call the insurance, I learned that the insurance company belonged to THE DRIVER WHO WRECKED MY CAR!!! The "receptionist" or whatever the heck he was, had denied the whole thing claiming my car was fine!!! He didn't want to give my his name or his position within the company (SSS Auto Transport). My friend was somehow able to get the paperwork emailed to him. It's September 18th and I STILL don't have my car. It was delivered to me in Michigan on the 2nd.
My friends experience with the driver: My friend told me that the driver had given him a time of when the car would be delivered but kept changing the times. First he said noon, then he said 2, then he said 11pm, and finally he said he would get it delivered the next day!! My friend ended up confronting him over the phone and basically had to threaten to get the cops involved by reporting it stolen if it wasn't delivered by a certain time. The driver was in Michigan during that whole ordeal because the Mercedes-Benz app comes with a GPS.
All in all, this was an absolute nightmare. We're finally at the end process of the insurance paying for our car.
I would not use them if you have a very tight deadline. I was shipping my car to my brother and they arrived a day late and then on that day, delayed several times. They did (eventually) call to notify me, but it's annoying to wait around home wondered where the heck they are. It arrived to him on time, though. I think the fundamental problem is that other customers cause delays and therefore you get delayed.
Take pictures of your car before they come because the damage they indicate on their sheet is over the top. They mark every little scratch and in the end it looked as if they were saying 100% of the car was scratched.
Otherwise I found them friendly and straightforward. No hidden charges and nothing shady. Based on my research of this and other similar companies I would say that if you accept that the fact that you can't rely on a specific pick-up date, you will save yourself a lot of stress.
Update. He's a complete con artist. Read all the real reviews because some are fake.
He tried to keep his business with me by telling me he would lower the price and of course with MORE LIES. How does he expect anyone to train trust with clients if he keeps repeating the same actions.
All he cared about was me changing my review but no way. He showed his true colors.
Beware not everyone is nice and honest.
I had a bad experience with these guys.
The day they were supposed to come pick up the vehicle, they did not show up and after more than 2 hrs past the scheduled pick up time I called them and the guy said the moving truck broke down. That's understandable but why didn't they call to let us know they wouldn't be able to pick it up that evening?
The came the next day and picked it up. Took it from California to Massachusetts. When the car was delivered my brother discovered his front glass had been chipped big time. They said the crack was already there when they picked it up and that besides, their documentation that we signed when the car was picked up shows that we signed with the acknowledgement that the glass was already cracked. The issue with that is that when we signed the document on their PDA, no where on there did we see any part of the document saying that the glass had a crack. Apparently they must have hidden that part on the PDA because there is no way we would have signed that the front glass was cracked when it wasn't! And if they didn't hide that part of the document, we didn't see it.
The guy kept insisting that he has the signed document showing it was already cracked and basically suggesting that we are out of luck. Thankfully we had pictures of the car after it had been placed on their moving truck and the pictures clearly show that the glass was not cracked. After he realized we had pictures, he made arrangement for us to get the front glass fixed at no extra cost.
I would not do business with these guys again. They are not reliable. While I do believe some people will have a positive experience with these guys, others won't. So it's basically hit or miss!
I'm thankful that the car is where it needs to be and this is finally over.
Not sure how this company has been in business for 30 years, because the current owner isn't old enough and his customer service will surely run them in the the ground. I contacted them with the requested information to transport a car from Minden, NV to Chicago IL 3 weeks in advance of when we needed the car to be picked up. Day of pick up I still hadn't heard from the dispatch and when I contacted Lepke he informed me that he hadn't realized how far it was to pick up our car and if we could meet the driver (an hour away)!! I was not happy that I was hearing from him the DAY OF pick up and that he hadn't bothered to figure this out in advance. He was not very responsive and his customer service skills leave a great deal to be desired. I had no way of knowing in advance which company would actually be transporting the car, and after reading reviews of the actual transport company was disappointed in their bad reviews (from consumers and their own drivers alike).
I contacted Lepke Auto Transport about transporting my personal vehicle from Dallas Texas. I spoke with Tobias Lepke and he told me that he owned the trucking comany and that it would be his truck that would pick up my car and deliver it to me. He said he had an office in Dallas, TX and that is where the transport truck was located. He asked me to give him the information about the pick-up address, etc and he would give me a quote.
I gave him the information and he sent me a quote but then he said I would have to pay him $150 up front with a credit card and then pay the driver $400 in cash only once the car was delivered. I thought this set-up sounded kind of strange. He assured me that he was the owner of the truck that would transport my car.
I was thinking about it and then he started calling me relentlessly, trying to get me to sign the forms he had emailed to me and give him my credit card number. I did not feel comfortable with the way he was doing business and told him I was going to go with another company and not to call me again.
The next day, my friend in Dallas who has my car received a call from the driver of a company called A.S. Trucking and the driver told my friend that they work with Lepke and that I had authorized Lepke to pick-up my car. They informed my friend that they were on their way to his apartment to pick up my car. I told my friend that I had not authorized anyone to pick-up my car and to not let them have it.
I called Tobias Lepke and told him I had not authorized him to pick up my car and in fact had told him I did not want to do business with his company. He started arguing with me, called me names, and hung-up on me. Here he tried to have a driver pick-up my car without my authorization and also falsely telling me he owned the truck company that would pick-up my car.
I had not emailed him back the forms he wanted me to sign nor had I given him my credit card information. I assume his plan was to hold my car for ransom and not deliver it to me until I paid him the $550 up front.
Later I discovered that he does not even have an actually physical office in Dallas, TX but only a "virtual" office address that is just a mailing address that appears to be a physical address. In fact, I found that on his website that he lists offices all over the U.S. but they are all only "virtual" offices where he pays an executive suite company, like Meridian Business Centers, a monthly fee for an address which is just like a P.O. Box but has a suite number.
If you type in the address that was on his contract of 2432 W. Polk, Chicago into Google Maps & then click "Street View", you will see it is an apartment complex. Tobias Lepke is just one guy working out of his apartment that tries to deceive people into thinking he has a large trucking company with offices across the U.S. His whole operation is really just a scam and am surprised he is still in business as it appears he has been running this operation for quite a while.
