I used Lightning Auto to ship an SL500 from FL to CA. The carrier they used was Oramas Transporting Service LLC. Pickup was late. Driver called me Sunday night at 8pm to say he'd be there at 7am Monday. Car arrived with $1,200 of paint damage to passenger side, and the driver's seat, door and carpet covered in grease. Awful experience and no offer from Lightning Auto to fix it.

Lightning Auto Carriers and I had a contract for transporting my car from Verona NJ to Lake Worth, FL at a price of $550.00 on Monday June 28, 2021. On Thursday June 24,2021 they contacted me and let me know that the driver they had was unable to fulfill the contract, but that they would get someone else. I contacted them multiple times to check on the progress. Finally on Monday June 28, 2021 they said that they had someone to transport my car with pick up that day. Only issue was that instead of the contracted $550.00, this was going to cost me $850.00, which we negotiated down to $825.00. They had me over a barrel and I reluctantly agreed because I was leaving town and needed my car and had run out of time. This was bait and switch and was highly unethical.

They then responded saying that I changed location of delivery twice and that it was over an hour away. That was an out and out lie. I never changed location, not even once. The story they gave me on 6/24/21 is that their driver's truck broke down and that he would not be able to transport my car. I changed nothing. They preyed on a customer who was in a difficult situation. And then resorted to lying and spinning this to try to keep face.

I contacted them after they shipped my friend's car without issue. I "booked" with them May 28 for shipping June 12/13. I hadn't heard anything from them by June 5/6. I then contacted them and was reassured they are working on it. I changed delivery to June 26/27. Today is June 25 and I still have not heard anything about a carrier for my car. I am now scrambling to find a new company to work with and will most certainly get my car shipped later than expected. I do not recommend working with them at all.

We got screwed over by another company when we called Brad at lightning. Next day we get this email...

Used them to move from New York to Dallas. Brad was great. Very easy to communicate with. Had some trouble getting a driver but brad did everything he can to ensure delivery would be completed. Highly recommended

I'm surprised to see the bad ratings from other customers about Lightning Auto, because I have worked with them 3 times now and I have always been really satisfied. I'd like to share my experience with Lightning Auto to hopefully give them some credit.

I've had my car shipped several times across country, and I've found Lightning Auto to have the fairest prices. I've worked with Matt, and maybe since I am a repeat customer I am able to get better prices, but I have been able to name my own price and he finds me a driver who is wiling to take it. Matt is very friendly, timely in his responses, and called me every day with updates. The customer service has been unlike any other company I've worked with. This in and of itself is enough to make me happy, since I have worked with companies before that could literally care less about me or my car.

My car has always been picked up and delivered on time, with no damage. They warn you ahead of time that they aren't insured to transport belongings, but let you pack up to 100 lbs of stuff in your trunk. This was key for me, and saved me a lot of money in additional moving expenses. The fact that they are honest about you doing this at your own risk, but give you the option, is nice. Some companies either forbid it altogether or don't tell you that you can't pack anything in the trunk, and then try to charge you at pick up. Lightning Auto was very honest about their policy from the get.

Lastly, my price has never changed during the shipment. I've heard stories from others about the price of their transport increasing midway through, which is understandably really frustrating for the customer since you are completely at their mercy. Maybe I have just gotten really lucky repeatedly, but this has never happened to me with Lightning Auto.

Everyone has their own experiences, and its unfortunate that others have been dissatisfied with Lightning Auto, because I have had only the best experiences with them. They are so easy to work with and will fight to keep your business by working with you. I took the time to write this review because I think they are a good, honest company that isn't trying to rip you off.

WORST EVER - ONLY GIVING ONE STAR BECAUSE I HAVE TO
I spent month researching a carrier to get a car from Colorado to California. I am a single mom with one income and pricing was very important to me. After reading many reviews i went with Lightning Auto Carriers. Brad told me he could get me the car here for 300.. That was perfect. I was in no rush to get the car just needed it by the end of the month. this gave Brad almost 3 weeks. after about week and a half i got a call from brad on a Sunday afternoon telling me the the only people he could find were for $500 plus the $100.00 for him. this is not something i had! i had to come up with the money. I finally said fine and i couldn't wait any longer. I gave brad specific instructions multipal times which he never passed on... I will NEVER recommend this company!

Very disappointed. Made a quote and Lightning didn't honor it. Charged me another 35% above the quote for no reason. Ended up I'd could have flown one way and driven in back cheaper. Driver was copious and timely but failed to return calls enroute. I do not recommend Lightning.
