Moving of America
Customer Reviews
Took a chance with Moving America as they came recommended. Called and spoke to a salesman named Adam. He was very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. We discussed the details of the move and he provided me with pricing and confirmed the date. Day of the move the movers were on time with little to no issues. I was relieved of the stress and anxiety of moving and the moving guys helped ease the pain. I needed a few extra supplies and although it was an extra charge I was ok with it. Not sure when I will be moving again but would use and recommended Moving America.

i previously gave a ripping review but I must say that the company has reached out to me and resolved my issues to my satisfaction
I wish more companies would take the time to address customer concerns as Moving of America has . So I am comfortable amending my review

July 2021- Spoke with Johnny. Tried to reach out. Find out he's had a baby with no away message. Called the office and once again was told I'll call you back. I followed up (did not receive call back) and they "don't have availability" it's funny how when you over promise and a potential client calls you out on your over promise or lack of transparency how all of a sudden you don't have availability.
Update on 12/31- I received a call 6 months later offering me a gift card to revoke my review....
They quit in the middle of the move. A representative came to our house 2 months before our move, saw everything we had to move, where it was located (attic, basement, main floors, and garage), and gave us a quote. When moving day arrived, a moving crew arrived with a "supervising foreman" who looked around everything again and insinuated it was too much stuff for the price and time quoted and they would need to speak with their sales team about a supplement to the estimate previously provided. As it was moving day and we only had 4 days to get out, we had little choice but to accept this and wait for a call from the sales team. As the move began, we received the call and were told the move would take an additional 9-12 hours of overtime charge. We were less than pleased but again, we were stuck as we had 4 days to get out. The crew worked for half a day on day one, a full day on day two, and on the third day we were told they "had taken another job" and would have to come back another day in a week or two. This left us, people in our 70's, to finish moving half our house by ourselves in order to meet the deadline. This meant we had to hire a uhaul truck and make several trips back and forth from our old house to the new house to finish the move; incurring daily rental and $2 a mile, mileage fees which resulted in an additional $1500 of moving costs. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND RUNNING A RACKET
Can you afford to have Moving of America "lose" more than $2000 of your belongings? If not, pay strict attention. MOA charged me, a 70 year old cancer patient, more than $13000 to move 800 miles and then "lost" over $2000 of my possessions and damaged much more. Here's what you need to know:
1. YOU HAVE NO CONSUMER PROTECTIONS against movers. They can lie, cheat and steal with impunity since they know that they can get away with it. I appealed to the local NBC affiliate who directed me to the FMCSA (The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) with whom I filed a complaint. They sent the complaint to the Attorney General of NJ who called me to tell me they had no authority to prosecute movers and directed me back to the FMCSA. I then filed a complaint with the BBB who did not receive a reply from MOA and so closed the complaint, making it visible for anyone to see as a possible deterrent to others. Instead I encourage you to sign the petition that can be found at:

and join with fellow victims of Moving companies to force lawmakers to enact laws to protect victims. There are thousands of us.
2. I have lived from CA to NJ and places in between and have moved over 20 times and I have NEVER lost a single item until this move. They load your items onto a truck and then UNload them into a warehouse until it's time to load them onto another truck. Apparently, they have poor processes in place to ensure that items are not intermingled with other customers' stuff. Or else.....figure it out yourself.
3. They take apart your furniture when loading and at the other end, the people they hire don't know how to put it back together again.
4. They make you put everything in a box. So, in my case, they "lost" expensive power tools that were in their own carrying cases. Had they just attached a ticket # as other movers do, I could easily prove that they had been "lost". This was what happened to 3 large, expensive metal storage racks that were "lost" and they had to admit to "losing" them as it was clear that the ticketed items were not delivered. They only pay you .60 per pound, and to get that paltry amount, you need to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement). Obviously, I didn't take their insulting offer. In my case, they also offered the "generous" amount of $250 for the more than $2000 worth of belongings "lost" including heirloom stemware they delivered as a box of dust, (think of how roughly these boxes must have been treated as the stemware was filled and wrapped in bubble wrap, with only 2 glasses in each tiny box that was then nestled into more bubble wrap inside a slightly larger box. You could detect no movement when shaking as they were carefully wrapped and cushioned.) Nevertheless, the $250 was to cover the missing power tools, the missing metal storage racks, a box of my prosthetics (who is so low as to "lose" a box of breast prosthetics from an elderly cancer patient!) among other things that were "lost". Requesting an NDA is a favorite ploy of the guilty who are, in effect, admitting their guilt and do not want their dirty deeds to be exposed to the public.
5. They do not deliver in a reasonable time. I was told that they usually deliver in about 9 days. So I stayed in a hotel for 9 days and then moved to the new house where I had to sleep in an empty house on a hard wood floor for over 2 weeks - 17 days to be exact. That was the longest wait for delivery per the contract and it was only delivered then because the delivery person first declined the job and then reconsidered and accepted it.
6. DO NOT EVER HIRE A COMPANY THAT MAKES YOU PAY BEFORE YOUR BELONGINGS ARE DELIVERED. This company make you pay before they begin unloading the truck. No other vendor does this, once again thwarting any recourse you have should items be missing or damaged. They get your money and you get...
7. I encourage you to read the one and two stars review BEFORE you decide to hire a company. Read about how they "Lost" a brand new Hot Wheels from a young child. My experience is not unique. This is how MOA does business. Understand that the glowing 5 star reviews are probably written by people working at the company. This is common practice so that they most recent review is the complimentary one. PLEASE read the 1 and 2 star reviews to see how customers are really treated.
This is a small company of dubious origin. Please learn from my mistakes. I'm still struggling to pay for the missing items, some of which meant a good deal to me. At least 10 times a day I reach for something and then realize that it's not there ....it's "lost".
Totally unprofessional. They took a deposit from my mom and then they said it doesn't count towards the final payment. They refused to return the deposit. Total scam. DO NOT USE.
Update:
The company contacted us and said they will not return our money unless we agreed to change our negative review. So they are coercing people to change their reviews and opinions to suit their needs.
Terrible!!! And I've moved cross country, I moved in the same state, by far...terrible and a scam. The quote is unrealistic, unprofessional workers, sloppy and unfriendly, doubled the quote. Don't use under any circumstances.
THIS is the moving company you want! Had a nightmare of the original moving company my cousin hired - NO SHOW the morning of the move. MOA came in very last minute with the 2 crews who had probably each had a few moves that day. 6 guys/1+ hour = amazing! The guys were hustling, happy, funny, careful, polite, AWESOME! They had the furniture wrapped, boxes in the truck and off to the storage facility in record time. Joseph/Project manager came by and dropped off the contract. He told me that he usually comes himself to the house prior to the move to give an ACCURATE estimate. Even though this situation was different with the last minute rush, the price was very fair. Would highly recommend!
Moving of America
1000 Main Ave, Clifton, NJ 07011
Move date: 10/16/2018 (yup, a while ago).
From: Brooklyn, NY
To: Parrish, FL
The movers did an excellent job. Courteous, professional and quick. The stuff arrived without damages or loss.
The problem, as usual, is not with the people who do the actual work, but with those who run the company.
Since the destination is not reachable by a tractor trailer, we agreed that near it they would switch to a smaller, 1-piece truck, which would cover the last leg of the move. As that involved an additional truck and extra time and labor, we agreed on raising the price by $500.
The movers told me that no such switch took place. The 1-piece truck traveled from NJ to FL with 4 moves on it, mine included.
Since there was no additional truck and no extra time and labor involved, I called the company and asked them to reduce the agreed-on price by $500. The reaction was rude and offensive, and I was accused of trying to scam(!) them out of $500.
Also, since I was not present at the destination for the delivery, I paid by credit card. I asked them to charge the card additional $240 as a tip to the movers. They promised to do so, but never did. I called several times about it, got promises, but they never charged me and never paid the movers. Why they would screw their own workers is beyond me.
Too bad that while the hard work was done so well, some cubicle-dwelling jerks would tarnish the company's reputation.
